Why it matters
Modern livestock nutrition depends on precise nutrient balance, particularly for limiting nutrients such as methionine and lysine. When diets are poorly balanced, performance can fall while excess protein and nitrogen are simply excreted, increasing feed costs and environmental losses.
Research shows that targeted amino-acid nutrition can support animal performance while allowing lower-crude-protein diets and reducing nitrogen excretion, ammonia and other emissions. This makes efficient nutrient sourcing and formulation an important part of the industry's wider shift toward more resource-efficient feed systems.
